Who should take the CCAR-P exam?
Mid- to senior-level solution architects, AI/ML engineers, and technical leads who own the full lifecycle of a Claude-powered system — from discovery through deployment, monitoring, and governance — typically with 3+ years in systems architecture or platform engineering and 6+ months hands-on with Claude in production.
Do I need CCA-F (Foundations) before taking CCAR-P?
There is no mandatory prerequisite enforced at registration — the credential is awarded on exam performance alone. In practice, though, CCAR-P assumes the architectural fluency built by CCA-F (Foundations) and goes further into RAG design, evaluation frameworks, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, FedRAMP), and stakeholder lifecycle management, so most candidates take Foundations first.
How is CCAR-P different from CCA-F (Architect Foundations)?
CCA-F tests whether you can architect a Claude-based system (agent orchestration, MCP, Claude Code, prompting) at a foundational level. CCAR-P tests whether you can own the entire lifecycle of that system in an enterprise context: RAG pipeline design, evaluation and observability at scale, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication — reflected in its higher price ($175 vs. $125), longer exam (63 vs. 60 items), and domains centered on integration, evaluation, and governance rather than agentic architecture alone.
Can I just register directly, or do I need to be an Anthropic partner?
Registration goes through the Claude Partner Network, not directly through Pearson VUE. The good news: the network itself is free and open to any company bringing Claude to market, with no minimum size. Join with a corporate email (personal addresses like Gmail won't work), then register the exam through the Anthropic Partner Academy.
